Facebooking the convention

News feed
By DEIRDRE FULTON  |  August 28, 2008

Having a hard time keeping track (or maintaining interest in) all the news coming from Denver? We rounded up a few Maine luminaries who’ve alighted in the Mile High City for the Democratic National Convention this week, listened to their observations and anecdotes, and then translated them into Facebook-speak to make sure you read them.

Jon Hinck threw a sheep at people who want to go to war with Iran. (Throwing a sheep isn’t a good thing, right?)

Danny Muller joined the group Recreate 68 — progressive activists who seek to fix a broken two-party system with mass political participation.

Nathan Davis (an incoming junior at Portland’s Casco Bay High School, and city councilor Jill Duson’s son) is in Denver gathering footage for a documentary film he’ll produce as an independent study project.

Jon Hinck (state representative from Portland) became a fan of Michelle Obama and Caroline Kennedy.

Jon Hinck wrote on their own wall: “Dare I say, I’m actually feeling hopeful.”

Danny Muller (executive director, Peace Action Maine) is arriving late because of course his original flight was cancelled.

Ed Lachowicz (Kennebec County Democratic Committee vice-chair and TurnMaineBlue.com blogger) plans to attend Some Party at The Church That He Heard About From A Local.

Ed Lachowicz is now friends with Anarchist Protesters.

Ed Lachowicz is getting swept up in an anarchist protest and police counterpresence on his way to a party.

Ed Lachowicz is getting escorted out of Some Party at The Church by a bouncer because it was just for Democratic bigwigs.

Danny Muller plans to attend Schmooze-fest with Senators.

Jon Hinck is biking around Denver.

Sam Spencer (a Maine DNC committeeman) posted a video: Sam interviews Hannah Pingree (state representative from North Haven).

The Portland Phoenix wrote on (NAACP Portland branch president) Rachel Talbot Ross’s wall: “Where are you? We wanted to include you in this round-up but couldn’t get in touch. Maybe we’ll post your thoughts on the blog later this week.”
